Software manufacturer Playtech presents players with yet another addition to the Age of the Gods series – Age of the Gods: Prince of Olympus. If you haven’t guessed it already, the main focus of this offering is the mighty Hercules. Having become the symbol of supernatural strength, the adventures of this hero are something most of us have read about in school, and much of the imagery on these reels is related to the different Heroic labors of Hercules; the Apples of Hesperides, Hippolyte’s Belt and Cerberus. The other symbols on the reels are the traditional lower value playing cards. Note also that the backdrop of this offering doesn’t picture the typical heavenly scene. Instead, the sky seems rather stormy, crowded with dark purple clouds.

But that’s enough about the design and high quality visuals. Let’s move on to the game’s layout, which features 5 reels and 3 rows, and in addition to them, there are exactly 25 active paylines for you to place your bets on. However, if that number seems too high, you can always use less. This makes for a very agreeable betting range starting at a minimum stake of only 1p per spin, and the maximum amount you will be able to wager on these reels will set you back some £500 per single spin.

Special Features

The progressive jackpots in the Age of the Gods series of games are a genuine attraction all of their own. Like in the other games in the series, the opportunity to win one of the four jackpots in Age of the Gods: Prince of Olympus is triggered randomly. Once it is active you will find yourself in front of a new screen which will display a grid of gold coins. You will have to pick them out one by one until you reveal three symbols of the same type. These will award you the respective progressive jackpot.

Keep an eye on reels 2, 3 and 4, because those are the only ones where the Wild symbol can appear. In addition, the Wild will be able to replace any of the other icons to help form winning combos. However, it will not be able to substitute for the game’s Scatter and Bonus icons.

Herculean Strength Bonus

There are two ways that you can trigger this bonus feature, and, respectively, two ways that it can play out. One possibility is if you land the Wild in the middle position of reel 3. This will award you 2 respins, with the Wild expanding and remaining sticky for the duration of the respins. Then there’s the second option, which you can trigger by landing all 3 Wild symbols at the same time. As a result, all three Wilds will expand to cover their reels, and you will receive 1 respin with them locked in place.

Hydra Bonus

Look out for the Bonus symbol appearing on reels 1 and 5 during the same spin. This will trigger the Hydra Bonus, which will automatically take you to the next screen. As a result, you will see Hercules who is about to combat the Hydra (also one of his Heroic Labors, by the way). As you might remember, since the Hydra had many heads, you will have to help Hercules choose which head to shoot first. The first three heads he shoots will give you cash prizes and the fourth will provide a multiplier for their total.

The Scatters, unlike the previous two special symbols, can land on any of the five reels at any point during gameplay. However, you will require at least 3 of these icons in order to activate the Freespins feature. Once you have triggered it, you will benefit from a total of 10 free spins with a 3x multiplier. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to retrigger this feature by landing another 3 or more Scatters.
