The Battle of the Atlantic is just that, a battle! The game is based around the Navy ships heading to war in the Atlantic and it’s your goal as Admiral of the fleet to make sure that they eliminate the enemy and come back alive. OK, we admit, it’s not the most original theme out there, but the game provides a good amount of depth throughout, which we will discuss more below.
It’s a pretty standard 5 reel, 20-payline game, which doesn’t get us all that excited. However, you can play from stakes of 2p a line up to £25 a line, meaning that the max bet is whopping £500 per spin. The varied prices per spin definitely make this game one for the masses. On top of that you get scatter icons, wilds and a feature round to keep things ticking over nicely.
The Wild symbols is rather attractive looking lady with red hair, although why they saw fit to include this as the wild, we have no idea. As per usual, it will substitute itself in from time to time to make additional winning lines for you. The only two icons that it won’t sub in for are scatters and jackpot icons.
The feature game is pretty much a good old-fashioned game of battleship, surprisingly. First off you will need to collect three or more of the feature symbols on consecutive reels within an active payline. Once you’ve done this the game will start, and all you need to do is pick a grid number to fire your first missile. You continue until you’ve sunk as many of the battleships as possible and your fleet can get away. The minimum payout for each successfully sunk battleship is 80x your original bet amount, before they get added together.
The free spins game will kick off when you manage to hit up three of the scatter symbols anywhere on the board, regardless of how any pay-lines you are playing. Once you’re in you will then click the launch button, which will signify the number of spins you get. If you manage to get just the three scatters then you’ll be looking at a multiplier of 2 times your stake, but four scatters will get 5x your total stake.
All in all you are going to be getting a very well rounded slot in Battle of the Atlantic. The inclusion of feature games, bonus rounds and free spins is something that will add longevity, but also the ability to play at both low and high stakes will mean it should appeal to the masses.
