If you have played the original Desert Treasure game by Playtech, you will notice that not much seems to have changed in the sequel. However, if you look closer, you will actually see that Desert Treasure II boasts better quality visuals. The graphics, though still 2D, are sharper, have more detail and even more character. You will still be in the same old desert, with the camel looking over the reels and the pyramids visible in the distance. And desert creepy crawlies will still be embellishing the lower value playing card icons. In addition, the developers appear to have added a little more detail to the design of the controls, as well. The buttons now have a background of parched earth to match the whole desert theme.

As for the layout, you will find that nothing has changed here either. You still have the conventional grid of 5 reels and 3 rows, and there are 20 paylines in store just as there are in the first Desert Treasure online slot game. Furthermore, players can still regulate the paylines in this title, so you can even play with just a single line if you so choose. Hence, the minimum bet is only 1p per single spin. However, the maximum possible amount you can wager here is a mere £2.00 per spin.

Special Features

Oasis Bonus

The real changes in Desert Treasure are actually its special features. For example, there is now an Oasis Bonus Feature, and you can trigger it by landing three or more Bonus symbols during the same spin. This will give you a selection of treasure chests to choose from, and the number of Bonus symbols that you triggered the feature with will correspond to the number of picks you get (3, 4 or 5).

These can reveal cash prizes, but you can also potentially uncover a map symbol, and if that happens, it will take you to the second level of the bonus game. Here, you will have two locations to choose from. One is the Secret Tent and the other the Hidden Sanctum. These are essentially just more pick me games, and either one of them can land you up a cash prize of up to 100x your stake.

The Wild only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 in the Desert Treasure sequel. On top of that, it doesn’t offer any payouts at all. What it can do, however, is replace any of the regular symbols to help form winning combos – it can even expand to cover the entire reel that it lands on. The symbols it won’t be able to substitute for are the Bonus and Scatter icons.

The Scatter symbol will be your key to triggering the Freespins Feature. This is the second and final bonus game available in this offering, and will gift you 15 freespins. Just land 3, 4 or 5 Scatters at the same time during a spin to trigger the feature. Better yet, the freespins come with a 2x multiplier that applies to all winnings. Not least important is also the fact that you can retrigger the Freespins Feature if you land a further 3 or more Scatters.

Desert Treasure II certainly is an improvement on the original slot game, even if it’s not that obvious in the beginning. The expansion of the pick-me bonus makes for a nice entertaining touch, and the multiplier, along with the freespins multiplier promises great winning opportunities.
