Huoloing Valley is an Asian themed online slot game by software manufacturer NextGen Gaming. But it’s unlike the ocean of other Asian games that you find online because, for one, it has a stronger focus on nature, and for another, the color scheme isn’t red and gold. For the most part it’s just the plane green landscape of the valley, and in the distance you can see the obscure purple haze that is the mountain ridge. We can’t say the graphics are overly impressive, especially if you judge them solely on the backdrop, but the symbols fare a little better and the game features the occasional animation. The reels picture a variety of exotic species, including pandas, cranes, Koi fish and dragons. Note also the ethnic soundtrack playing in the background, which adds a pleasant vibe to gameplay.
The technical aspects of the game aren’t at all exotic, though. They feature pretty much your standard set of 5 reels and 3 rows and these come with a total of 20 paylines, which are also fixed by the way so there will be no opportunity for you to change them. This reflects on the stakes accordingly. They start off at a minimum bet of 20p per spin and they reach up to maximum bet of £100 per single spin.

Mask Wild
Look out for the mask symbol on the reels as it is Wild. It is also the most lucrative icon present, offering payouts of up to a whopping 5,000 coins. In addition to that, the Wild will be able to land in any position on the reels and has the capacity to substitute for any of the other symbols in sight, except the Scatter and Bonus icons. It will only do this if it can help complete winning combos as a result, thus boosting your wins. Beyond that, though, any winning sequence that the Wild contributes to will also be subject to a 2x multiplier. So there’s that.
Bonus Icon
We mentioned there’s both a Scatter and Bonus symbol in this title, but only the Bonus symbol will be responsible for triggering the Freespins feature. As for the Scatter, it has no other purpose than to deliver scattered wins.
Back to the bonus round – you will require at least 3 Bonus symbols to land anywhere on the reels at the same time in order to activate it. As a result, a new screen will prompt you to pick one of the six lanterns before you. This will reveal the number of free spins you will receive – which can be between 4 and 7 – and then after that you will also have to take your pick from a selection of coins. This will award you a multiplier value between 3x and 6x.
The multiplier will be valid all throughout the Freespins feature and it will also apply to the Wild multiplier. Verdict
Huolong Valley is obviously quite basic, both in terms of its gameplay and its visuals. On the other hand it has potential for some pretty great payouts, especially during the bonus round. However, this is a medium to high variance offering, so it won’t be so easy to trigger.
