Joker Jester is bright and flamboyant and almost overwhelms you with the amount of colour it wears. NextGen Gaming has certainly taken the jester theme to the next level with the different colored diamond patterns covering the backdrop and extending their reach onto the reels, and of course there is an actual jester present on the screen as one of the most important symbols. Note also the different banners hanging down from up above the reels, as well as the red drapes. They add a kind of royal feeling to the whole theme. The graphics are great, even though they aren’t 3D and don’t feature any exceptionally sophisticated animations. Instead, they are exaggeratedly cartoonish, which makes perfect sense in this context.
Now as for the layout, things are pretty standard. It features a regular 5 reel by 3 row grid with a total of 20 active paylines. The paylines are not fixed so you will have the freedom to adjust them if you prefer. Players can in fact lower the number of active paylines to just a single one, and this will affect the betting range accordingly, of course. The minimum stake is only 1p per spin, making this a good offering for penny players, and the maximum amount you will be able to wager on these reels is a pretty steep £500 per single spin.

Special Features
Joker Jester may look like a basic game, but it actually packs a number of special features, one of which can trigger at random after any given spin. It’s called the Jester Wild Feature and it will see the Jester jump across the reels and turn random symbols into Wilds. This will then result in a payouts recalculation and hence, make for more wins.
Jester Wild
The Jester symbol is Wild and it can land in any position, anywhere on the five reels. Furthermore, it offers higher payouts than any of the other icons. More importantly, it will be able to replace any of those other icons when forming winning combos, the only exceptions to this rule are the Scatter and the two Bonus symbols.
Juggle Bonus
Look out for the symbol displaying the basket of eggs – this is one of the two Bonus symbols present. It can only land on the first three reels: 1, 2 and 3. You will need to land it on all three of those reels all at the same time to make the Jester appear and juggle the three eggs. As he does, you can make his life harder by giving him even more eggs, however, the more eggs he juggles, the better it is for you, because that will mean a higher prize.
If you happen to land a golden egg in the meantime, then your prize will increase quicker. Furthermore, there are Safety Levels that can lock your prize at a certain amount, and there’s also the Collect Now option which will allow you to take your prize and exit the game. The Juggle Bonus ends when the Jester drops the eggs, at which point you will receive the amount from the last Safety Level.
Barrel Bonus
Last but not least is the Barrel Bonus. In order to trigger it you will be relying on the Barrel Bonus symbol which only appears on reels 3, 4 and 5. To be more exact, you will have to land all three symbols at the same time to activate this feature. This will in turn result in a brief pick-me game in which you will have to choose one of the three barrels. Your pick will award you a certain cash prize.

Joker Jester is very colorful and has a certain charm to it, even though the graphics aren’t the latest technology. But all those extra features certainly make up for it and make for a wholesome gaming experience.
