Vikings Go to Hell doesn’t sound like the jolliest of titles, and once it loads you will see that it doesn’t look like one either. What it does look like is an exceptionally high quality offering from award winning software developer Yggdrasil. It’s only fitting that the Scandinavian developer would release a game about the notorious Norse warriors, even if they are headed to the netherworld. The graphics are 3D and of great quality, and the game will take you to the ice cold, rocky landscape of some Northern land. The symbols on the reels include four brutal looking Vikings as well as some of their weapons. Be sure to have the sound on for that dramatic, bellicose soundtrack that completes the gaming experience.

This brings us to the game’s layout which features 5 reels and 4 rows. There is a total of 25 active paylines in this title, and they are fixed. So in other words, players will not have the opportunity to adjust them or play with a lesser number, but stakes are very reasonable, so you won’t really have to. The minimum bet is only 10p per single spin and the maximum amount you will be able to wager on these reels will set you back a total of £125 per spin.

Special Features

Wild

The Wild symbol can land in any position, anywhere across the five reels, and when it does land on the screen it will be able to substitute for all other symbols. Thus, it can help complete winning combinations and boost your winnings. However, the Wild doesn’t offer any payouts of its own, and there is one symbol that it will not be able to replace – the Scatter icon.

Treasure Chest Bonus

Look out for the Treasure Chest landing only on reel 5. When it appears, it will trigger the Treasure Chest bonus feature, and as it does, the symbol will begin to spin to reveal one of two tablets: the Epic Tablet or the Gold Tablet. Both of these offer different prizes:

  • The Gold Tablet can award you 7 freespins or 30 rage points for one Viking. Alternatively, it can also give you anywhere between 150 and 300 coins.
  • The Epic Tablet has better rewards in store, like for example, 12 or 16 freespins. In addition, it can also provide you with 30 rage points for all Vikings. If it gives you a cash prize it will be between 600 and 1,200 coins.

Rage Points

If you land 2 Scatter symbols at the same time during a spin this will summon the demon to fight one of your Vikings. If you win, then you will receive a rage point for that Viking and that Viking will also turn into a Sticky Wild for one respin.

Furthermore, once you manage to fill the Rage meter for one of the Vikings this will trigger the Berzerk Freespins Feature. As a result, you will receive 7 freespins with that Viking always winning all fights.

Freespins

There’s another way to trigger the Freespins Feature. Namely, you will have to land at least 3 Scatter symbols at the same time. Doing so will award you 7, 12, or 16 freespins depending on the number of Scatters you landed. After each freespin the Vikings will all have a battle with a demon, and in the case of a victory, that position on the reels will turn into a Sticky Wild for the remainder of the bonus. Furthermore, this will also add rage points to their respective meters.

Furthermore, there will also be battles between the Vikings and the Lord of Chains, and victory here will result in a level up where you get to face Lucifer himself. This, in turn, may result in even more Sticky Wilds.

Verdict

There is certainly a lot to take in when it comes to the setup of Vikings Go to Hell. But all in all, it boasts great winning potential and is fairly volatile.
