Top Spot may look like it’s setting you up for a fanciful gaming experience, but really it isn’t. If you overlook the luxurious backdrop, featuring a red velvet curtain and neon lights, you will see that the setup is actually quite basic. The reels present you with a relatively small selection of symbols, most of which will be familiar from classic slot machines. These are the red lucky 7, the single, double, and triple BAR symbols, and the X icon. All of the symbols pay out except for the O, but the most lucrative is the lucky 7, as is most commonly the case. Furthermore, you will notice that there is nothing impressive about the graphics either, they too are quite simplistic with no 3D features or animations to add extra entertainment. On top of that the game doesn’t even have a soundtrack either.

As far as the game’s structure goes, you will see the layout features a regular grid of 5 reels and 3 rows. It comes with a total of 10 active paylines, and these are fixed, therefore, you won’t have the ability to play with any more or less. Stakes are within a very flexible betting range that players can enjoy with most Barcrest offerings. Namely, the minimum bet will set you back only 10p per single spin and the maximum wager amount reaches a pretty hefty £500 per spin.

Special Features

Top Spot doesn’t exactly aim to wow players with special features. As a matter of fact, this online slot game is pretty much devoid of any such features, in the traditional sense at least. What you might count as a bit of an extra is that you have the possibility to unlock more paylines if you play at a higher stake. To be precise, by betting £2 or more per spin, you can unlock an additional 10 paylines for a total of 20 active paylines.

Hence, this makes for better winning opportunities, and as this game doesn’t feature a Wild symbol that would otherwise be able to help you with that, access to more paylines is a pretty big deal.

The only other attraction is the Top Spot itself, and you can trigger it by landing even just a single winning combination of symbols. As a result, the curtains above will reveal one of the symbols. Your hope will be for that symbol to match the ones in the winning combo, and as long as that condition is fulfilled, all other symbols on the reels with the winning sequence will respin and turn into that exact same symbol. In turn, this will create even more winning opportunities.

Big Bet Mode

Top Spot comes with 2 Big Bet options, both of which will buy you a total of 5 consecutive spins. The cheaper option will cost you £10 and will add a 2x multiplier to the options that can appear in the Top Spot. In addition to that 2x multiplier, you can also land a 3x multiplier if you go for the £20 Big Bet.

Verdict

If you like simple games, then Top Spot is a game for you. The title comes with a bit of an old school feel to it and less bonuses. Hence, it’s fast paced, very straightforward, and to the point. But don’t let all of that mislead you into blindly spinning away. This game is fairly volatile and can quickly eat up your bankroll.
