Wild Knights Kings Ransom is a medieval-themed online slot game brought to you by software developer Barcrest, and since the game focuses on knights, it’s only fitting that the backdrop would be chainmail. It’s literally only that – nothing more. But what Wild Knights lacks in terms of the design it makes up for with the soundtrack.
Not many Barcrest slots come with their own music, but this one does and it’s very much in line with the theme. You will hear a medieval lute playing as accompaniment for your medieval gameplay. What might seem a little odd, though, is the fact that the lower value playing card icons appear in various neon colors. Other than that, the graphics are of pretty standard quality.
As for the layout, it features 5 reels and 3 rows, no different from the majority of slots out there. There are a total of 10 active paylines available for you to place your bets on, and the paylines are fixed so there is no wiggle room there. Stakes are typically very liberal, starting at a minimum bet of only 10p per spin. There is plenty of room for high rollers, too, as the maximum bet will set you back £500 per single spin.
Special Features
Wild Knights comes with a selection of random features that you can benefit from at any point during the game. One of them is the Gauntlet Bonus which may trigger on a non-winning spin, this will change one or two symbols and guarantee at least one line win.
The Wild Times bonus may also trigger on an unsuccessful spin, turning one symbol wild and adding a multiplier to any wins this creates.
Of course, Barcrest’s Big Bet mode is also an option.
Wild
The Wild coin symbol substitutes for all other symbols except the Scatters. It doesn’t offer any payouts of its own, but you can see it appear in any position, anywhere on the reels.
What’s more, the Wild can land in full-reel stacks, which greatly increases your winning opportunities.
Freespin Shields
Look out for the Scatters landing anywhere on the middle reels 2, 3 and 4. You will need to land all three of these symbols during the same spin in order to trigger this game’s main attraction. Namely, this would be the Freespins Feature, which awards you an unlimited amount of freespins.
Note, however, that there are 3 different colored shields that act as Scatters. Landing a combo of any 3 will give you entry to the freespins, but if you manage to land a combination of shields all in one color, this will also give you lives (or Knights). Thus, 3 red shields will give you 3 lives, whereas 3 blue shields will award you 2 lives, and landing a mixed combo of shields will give you only 1 life. More lives will ensure that you keep up the freespins for longer. If you land a Black Baron symbol on reel 5 you will lose a life, and if you have no lives left the feature will end.
Last but not least, the Wilds play a special role during the freespins round, too. If you land one on the reels, it will move down one position for the next spin.
Pots Bonus
If you land 3 of the gold pot symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5you will activate the Pots Bonus, which is a sort of pick me game.
You will see 12 silver or bronze cards face down and you need to pick one of them to reveal the awarded pot. The final award consists of the total stake x the multiplier from the pot you selected.
You cannot activate this bonus from freespins.

Wild Knights Kings Ransom seems simplistic at first, but it really packs a punch with the amount of extra features it has in store. The freespins bonus round is especially attractive in that it can prove to be quite lucrative.
