If you’re clued up on Greek mythology you’ll probably have heard the tale of Pandora’s Box. The box itself was originally a large jar given to Pandora, which contained all the evils of the world, something which Pandora opened at one point, releasing its contents into the world. While this game is not quite as disastrous as the mythological story, it features instead images from ancient Greece. So, you’ll find reels filled with gladiator helmets, grapes, olives, a harp, a shield bearing Medusa’s face and a piece of Greek pottery.
A total of 20 customisable paylines exist within Pandora’s Box, which are spread out across its five reel, three row layout. You’ll also find that there’s a bet level which can be altered between one and four, while the coin value is able to be switched from the minimum of £0.01 upwards to £1.00 per line. Combining all these maximums will allow players to place a wager of £80 per spin across all 20 lines.
The game offers a standard wild symbol, represented by the God of thunder and lightning, Zeus. Wins with these symbols will double your payout when substituting others, and the only symbols not substituted are scatters.
The golden wild is the same image of Zeus, but with a golden background. These will only appear on the third reel and have much the same effect as the standard wild, standing in for all other symbols except scatters. However, the golden wild will incorporate a multiplier of times four as well.
Pandora herself peeping into the box is the games scatter symbol, and these will provide both free spins and a multiplier. Three scatters offer a multiplier of five and 10 free spins, four scatters offer up a multiplier of 25 and 20 free spins while five scatters reward you with 30 free spins and a 500 times multiplier. Free spin wins are tripled and further scatter symbols appearing during this round will activate extra free spins.
Pandora’s Box is one of Netent’s more interesting games. It has a great theme behind it, although some kind of bonus round featuring the box itself would have been a nice addition. However, the wilds, golden wilds and scatters included in gameplay offer up some more-than-interesting benefits to players.
