Spellcast offers up all the wizardry and witchery of your favourite fantasy novels. Set in a magical castle that seems to host a showdown between a wizard and a witch, you’ll find reels here are filled with everything magical such as wands, crystal balls, dark castles, magic potions and spellbooks, alongside standard A, J, K, Q, 9 and 10 symbols. Every winning combination created will provide you with a stringed ditty, while the main game will offer up sounds of a dank, underground cave where dark magic is crafted.

The game offers up five reels and three rows worth of an interface, while a total of 20 separate paylines are also incorporated alongside. You’ll find the bet level will alter between one and four, while the coin value is able to be switched from £0.01 up to £0.50 per line. Altogether, this provides players with the chance to place a maximum overall wager of £40 per spin on Spellcast.

Special Features

Wizard

The crafty wizard portrays Spellcast’s wild symbol, and he will stand in for any other symbol on the reels to create a winning combination (excluding scatters). Wins incorporating wild symbols are doubled, unless the entire win features all wilds, in which case a higher multiplier is applied.

Fortune Teller

The fortune teller with her hands placed over a crystal ball is this game’s scatter symbol. Spinning three or more of these in any position on the reels will trigger a round of 15 free spins. All wins earned during the free spin round are tripled, while the scatter symbol itself pays out your total bet times a multiplier. Therefore, three scatters provide a multiplier of five. Four scatters payout a multiplier of 25, and five scatters give a huge multiplier of times 500.

Verdict

Spellcast may not be brimming over with additional features and symbols, but it provides enough within its gameplay to make it interesting. The addition of free spins to any game is, of course, a welcome extra, although for a game centred around magic and spells, one can’t help but feel that something a little more could have been done with the product. Perhaps a battle between the wizard and the witch for a bonus round? In any event, you’ll find plentiful Netent visuals here, offering up wonderful imagery and animation.
