Not many people would consider being stuck in a labyrinth as a lucky scenario, in fact it would be quite the opposite. That is, unless that labyrinth was lucky and full of winning potential like this one created by Rival Gaming. It lovingly borrows its theme from the Jim Henson film Labyrinth, though; some of the character symbols on the reels are very similar to those in the film, so maybe Rival can’t take all of the credit.

Jim Henson didn’t have any hand in making this slot entertaining though, and this 5 reel, 3 row offering certainly is. There are 30 pay lines for you to bet on, but you’re able to choose how many you would like to be active per spin by using the ‘Select Lines’ button. Additionally, you can change your bet by selecting a coin value between 1p and 25p, and then selecting between 1 and 10 coins to bet per line. This gives you the possibility of bringing a maximum bet of £75 per spin into play in Lucky Labyrinth.

The game really does feature some impressive graphic work. Various labyrinths can be seen in the background of the slot, while the symbols are all crisp and clear. The first of these can be seen in the shape of playing card symbols running from 9 through to A, and all of these have foliage growing on them. Then comes a sort of goblin symbol, which is followed by a character that looks very similar to Hoggle from the film. You’ll also see a symbol that looks like Ludo, and another like Sir Didymus. The symbol that looks like Sarah (Jennifer Connolly) is next, and then comes the Goblin King. But it’s the baby boy that is stolen by the Goblin King that works as the highest paying standard symbol on the reels. He can multiply your wager up to 800x.

Special Features

Owl

The Goblin King has the ability to transform into an owl, and it is the owl in this game that works as a wild addition. Therefore, it is able to stand in for all other standard symbols, helping you to form winning combinations. The only symbols that it won’t substitute for are the game’s scatter icons.

During normal play, if this symbol participates in a win, it will also add a double multiplier to proceedings. And what’s more, if wins can be formed on other rows, the wild will expand to cover the entirety of the reel that it’s on to do so. The multiplier will also increase to 3x during the slot’s free spins function.

Goblin King’s Crystal Ball

The Goblin King’s crystal ball is the symbol that will operate as this slot’s free spins scatter. You’ll need to spin at least three of these into view anywhere in order to activate the game’s free spins round.

You’ll get five free spins if three of the scatters come into view, while 10 free spins will activate from the appearance of four scatters. The maximum of 15 free spins come from five of the crystal balls appearing.

Drop Icon Super Round

During the slot’s free spins round, if you manage to spin three or more of the pink crystal balls into view anywhere then the Super Round will begin. You’ll get five Super Round spins to play through.

Throughout this feature, you’ll see Drop Icon symbols come into view on the reels. If you spin three or more of them into view then the Drop Feature begins. This sees the Drop Icon additions disappear and the symbols above them will fall into the spaces to potentially create additional wins.

Multiplier Maze

The final addition to Lucky Labyrinth is the Multiplier Maze symbol. These only appear during the aforementioned Drop Icon Super Round feature.

Whenever a Drop Feature takes place, an increasing multiplier will also take effect, with up to 7x your pay-out able to be won from this one showing up.

Verdict

Despite the fact that Lucky Labyrinth appears to have taken its theme and symbols from the 80s Labyrinth film, it plays out like a contemporary slot. The graphics are nicely done, and the inbuilt features add a lot to the base gameplay, affording you an entertaining slot. Overall, it’s a well-designed and executed game from Rival Gaming.
