There’s little doubt that Aztec Treasure is one of the most popular games from the RTG brand. It brings the idea of the ancient Aztec civilisation to life on its reels, and even though it utilises graphics that can’t really be considered cutting edge, this hasn’t affected its success with players. This could also be due to the fact that it contains a tasty progressive jackpot. With this new incarnation of the game, there’s also the inclusion of a Feature Guarantee perk to benefit from.

Visually speaking, Aztec Treasure hasn’t really changed from its basic offering. Therefore, you’ll see playing card symbols and then some more-thematically specific symbols accompanying them. These include shining pieces of jewellery, a headdress, an Aztec princess and more.

When it comes to the actual layout of Aztec Treasure Feature Guarantee, there’s a five reel and three row interface to play on which shouldn’t come as any sort of surprise, and RTG have also included 25 paylines into this version of the game, increasing it by 5. In this version, the lines are also set in position so you can’t customise them in any way. You can, however, change the value of the bet that you place. Simply use the relevant up and down arrows at the bottom of the reels to choose a wager between 25p and £125 per spin.

Special Features

At the top of the slot’s reels, you’ll also see the progressive jackpot total increasing. This happens whenever a player places a bet on the game, with around 1.5% of the wager contributing to the total. This can be won completely at random by any player of Aztec Treasure Feature Guarantee.

It doesn’t matter how much you’re wagering per spin, the progressive can be won by absolutely anybody. This means each spin in the base game could be a life changer.

Wild

Most of the features of this slot are the same as the standard Aztec Treasure game, so the wild is represented by the Aztec King.

He can appear on the middle three reels only, but if he does, he will substitute for all other standard symbols in the slot. This means that he is able to assist heavily in creating winning combinations.

Scatter

The game’s scatter symbol is that of the golden Aztec idol. If this one appears on the reels, it doesn’t need to be on a payline to provide you with a pay-out; as long as two are in view somewhere you’ll receive something from the game.

This is just the start of the scatter symbols’ perks, because it also has the ability to activate the free spins feature.

There are 5, 15 and 25 free spins available to activate in this slot. How do you receive such, you may ask? Well, you need to spin three, four or five of the game’s scatter symbols into view to get started. The number of scatters will dictate how many free spins you receive as your reward.

The scatter continues to have an effect on this feature round, too. Whenever one comes into view during free spins it will provide you with an additional pay-out of the stake that you placed when it was triggered. This is true for every occurrence of the scatter symbol. Not only that, but you’ll receive extra free spins whenever a scatter appears, with multiple scatters granting a higher number of additional spins.

Feature Guarantee

It is this part of the game that differentiates it from other incarnations of the Aztec range from RTG. Feature Guarantee ensure you will hit the feature round after a certain number of spins.

An indicator that is on display in the top-right corner of the screen dictates the number of paid games you will need to participate in before it will activate. Should you manage to trigger the free spins round at random during base gameplay, this meter will reset itself to 150 paid games remaining.

However, if this meter reaches zero before a random free spins trigger takes place organically, this will override the game and trigger it for you. Through this, up to 25 free spins can be won, with the same rules in place as if you had triggered the round naturally.

You can also use the Instant Trigger Chance option if you don’t want to wait. If the paid games remaining are less than 150 on the meter you can use it whenever you want, and it may instantly trigger the free spins round. However, it might not, and either way t will reset the meter to 150. The closer you are to 0 the more chance you have of it working.

Verdict

Aztec Treasure Feature Guarantee is basically a repeat of one of RTG’s most-popular games but with the added incentive of the guarantee meter. This isn’t a bad thing as it does bring a different edge to Aztec Treasure, it’s just that RTG seem to be churning out way too many incarnations of the same game recently. Naturally though, this one is the best release of the series.
