The Lucky 8 slot game from the RTG brand takes you on a tour around the orient, with wonderful graphics appearing on its reels and an interesting theme behind it. Of course, the Chinese theme is evident from the first moment, but it’s the extra touches that RTG includes which make it more appealing. Such as the background, which consists entirely of Chinese lanterns in different colours.

Speaking of colours, the first symbols of this game – which are the standard playing card symbols – all come in different colours, but with the typeface being noticeably Eastern. Joining those symbols, you’ll see a jade lion ornament and an ornate vase. Then comes a Chinese warrior in his finest armour, while a shot of the Great Wall of China can also be seen on the reels. The highest paying standard symbol is that of the beautiful Asian woman in her traditional attire, and she is able to multiply your wager by up to 888x over.

Of course, the symbols of the slot are just the start. These appear on a layout of five reels and three rows in total. At the same time, Lucky 8 has a set of 25 pay lines for you to bet on. You’re able to change the number of active pay lines per spin though, you just need to use the relevant up and down buttons at the bottom of the game’s reels. At the other side of the screen you’ll see another set of arrows which are used for changing your overall bet. You can select from wagers between 1p and 10p per active pay line, so you can place a maximum overall wager of £2.50 in Lucky 8.

Special Features

At the top of Lucky 8’s reels, you will see two different jackpots. These are the Minor and the Major jackpots. The totals on display will increase whenever someone places a bet on the slot game. You’re able to win either of them at random, so there isn’t any specific winning combination or bet that you need to make to be in with a chance of taking home the big bucks.

Emperor

A slot game such as this needs to have some sort of wild symbol at the very least, and it does. It’s the image of the emperor that represents the wild, and he is able to substitute for all other symbols within Lucky 8. That rule doesn’t apply to the scatter symbol, but it does apply to all others.

When one or more wild symbols show up in a winning combination, your pay-out will be multiplied by 2x, 3x or 8x. This means that you can receive up to 3,888x your stake from the appearance of this symbol.

Scatter

If you see the Lucky 8 symbol show up on the reels, you’ll notice that it operates as a scatter. Scatters can show up in any position and still provide you with a win, regardless of whether they’re on a winning pay line or not. If five of them come into view anywhere your stake is multiplied by 88x, but this is just the start of what makes the Lucky 8 scatter so interesting.

Free Spins – If you manage to spin three or more of the scatter symbols into view, you’ll activate this slot’s free spins round. A total of eight free spins will be granted to you for doing so, and in each of those free spins a gong will reveal a random prize multiplier of anywhere between 2x and 8x.

So, if you form a win on a free spin, it will be multiplied by that amount for your pay-out. Free spins can also be re-triggered with the appearance of three or more scatters during its play.

Win-Win Feature – This is one feature of the game that is only active when 25 pay lines are in operation. This will trigger at the end of the free spins round if the overall win of the round totals eight times the triggering bet or less. No win during the free spins feature awards you with a bonus prize of 88x your stake.

Verdict

There’s a lot to like about Lucky 8 from the moment that you load it up. The graphics are great, the theme of the game stands out and the inbuilt features keep things entertaining pas the base game. On the whole, it’s a super addition to the collection of slots from RTG.
